THE PRINTING GUIDE
Right size.
First fold.
A tiny change in print scale changes the whole box. These checks keep your paper pattern true to the dimensions you entered.
Match the paper.
Select A4 or US Letter in the generator, load the same size in the printer, and choose that size in the print dialog. The PDF uses a separate sheet for the base and the lid.
Choose Actual size or 100%.
Open the downloaded PDF in a PDF viewer. Select Actual size or 100% scale. Turn off Fit, Shrink oversized pages, booklet printing, and multiple pages per sheet. Print single-sided.
Let the page orientation follow the PDF.
The generator may use landscape or rotate a pattern when it fits better. Use automatic orientation where available. Check that the whole outline appears inside the print preview.
Measure before cutting.
Measure the calibration line at the bottom of each printed page. It must be 50 mm long, from the centre of one end mark to the other. Also measure the centre panel between fold lines. The small print at the top gives its intended dimensions.
Make one complete sample.
Cut, score, fold and glue a box using the actual paper you intend to use. Test the lid after the glue dries and adjust the clearance if needed.
Recheck paper size, print scaling and printer margins. The PDF keeps at least 10 mm side margins and 24 mm above and below the pattern. If your printer needs more room, use a smaller box or the SVG on a larger sheet. Do not fix it by shrinking the PDF if you need the entered dimensions.
Printing an SVG
Open it in a vector editor that understands millimetres. Keep its document units and size unchanged. The artwork has a 10 mm empty margin on each side, included in the SVG canvas size. Printing directly from a browser may fit the graphic to the page; check the scale in the print preview and measure the result.
